The Things Love Does

The Things Love Does

- Jerusha Patel

What does it mean

To have my heart race, my stomach scream

Who’s that man,

He’s calmed my war, become my peace

The things love does,

no book can ever explain

His kind words, gentle kisses,

a man that’s not afraid to admit his mistakes

He thinks about my comfort,

his eyes worried about my cramps

He rests his chin on my head,

just so I move closer to him and stand

He calls me when I’m afraid,

to take the evil eye off my glance

He takes care of me like a little baby,

cleans the nosey off my hands

The things love does,

he teaches me kindness

Love is not my fear anymore,

He’s the best version I’ve been

Our worlds revolve differently,

yet he holds my hand

I’ve known love all my life,

but he’s the first one I want to understand
