Mismatched Rhythm

 Mistmatched Rhythm

- Jerusha Patel

I wrote a message to you that night,

I meant it with every tear,

No man's ever had his way with me,

Love is my biggest fear

They ask me why him?

Well, I wish I knew the answer

I guess it's just attraction

Or maybe our mismatched rhythm

I don't allow affection,

run when it finds my way

But I love when you take care of me,

You're now a part of my prayer

I love when you blow on my tea,

And  how you talk to my sister

I love how you're mending our relation,

And when you wait at the train station

I love how you open my bag like it's your own,

how you want to get out of your comfort zone

I love when you run to me like a little baby,

And when you walk slowly cause I've hurt my heel

I love how you acknowledge your weakness,

And rub my hand when I've hurt it

I love when you bought popcorn for me,

Even though you missed a part of the movie

I love when you hold my bag,

And all the random kisses

I love your chin resting on my head,

and how you block the straw before I sip

I love how we both respect our art,

and learn from each other

I love when you recognise my hidden talents,

And when you asked me to become Director

But most of all I love how we're friends

And how you show me the finger,

I love the way you bend to hug me,

While your perfume still lingers
